Sprouts Haul

My Sprouts market is having a 25% off sale on beauty and nutritional products so I went a bit crazy and got stuff that I really needed. 

For beauty supplies I got Nelson's face cloths that I love (they have arnica), natural Biotin shampoo and conditioner, and other hair growth stuff that I hope works (I bleached my hair for YEARS and as a result have thin hair :sad face:): 

My food haul was interesting. I got spirulina (25% off woot woot), coconut sugar, and maca for new superfoods. Rice paper wraps and seaweed to make well wraps, grapefruit, gf soy sauce, green beans, mushrooms, cotton candy (eek sugar couldn't resist), miso paste, and chocolate pb coconut ice cream (no sugar yay):

Mac'n'Cheese Bar

For dinner tonight I made a Mac and Cheese bar!

 I made Mac and Cheese and a bunch of different toppings: 

I used quinoa pasta for the "mac" and daiya cheddar, earth balance, and homemade almond milk for the "cheese." The toppings were tomatoes, green beans, broccolini, corn, jalapeƱos, mushrooms and onions, franks red hot sauce, siracha, and sun dried tomatoes. 

It was delicious and fun to top the Mac and cheese with various things and each person got to choose what they wanted.

TJ Confetti Rice

I was intrigued by this prepared rice I saw in the freezer section at Trader Joes. 

It was interesting. The lemongrass and ginger were a bit strong. I added soy hot dogs and nutritional yeast and it ended up being good. 

Mushroom Miso Soup

I found a gf/v miso soup at the market and it excited me like no other! I also bought freeze dried shiitake mushrooms to add to it. 

YUM is an understatement! I like freeze dried mushrooms because they don't get mushy in soup. 

Iron Loading

I cut my pinking pretty badly at a BBQ today so I freaked out over the amount of blood loss and I decided to make an iron packed smoothie. I got a new Magic Bullet for Christmas and it is so cute and small and amazing! I can make smoothies that are a manageable size so no waste. 

I used Gogi Powder, Spinach, Cacao Powder and Nibs, Blueberries, Raspberries, and Chia seeds. I also used my homemade almond milk. 

I didn't use all of these but you get the idea: 

Homemade Almond Milk

I found a super easy recipe for homemade almond milk so I decided to give it a try:

- soak 1 cup of raw almonds overnight
- rinse and peel almonds (optional)
- add almonds, a pinch of Real Salt, and 4 cups of water to blender 
- blend for 1+ minutes 
- strain with a cheese cloth or other strainer 

The pulp can be dried and used as almond meal or flour :)
